SEAI Door Grant 2026: Now available in Ireland

Homeowners across Ireland can now benefit from the new SEAI Windows and Doors Grant, which offers up to €800 per external door when upgrading to energy-efficient replacements. The new SEAI Door Grant for 2026 makes it more affordable than ever to install high-performance composite doors that improve insulation, reduce energy bills, and increase comfort.

If you’re considering upgrading your entrance door, this guide explains the application window, eligibility, grant amount, and how to apply for the SEAI composite door grant in Ireland.

What Is the SEAI Door Grant?

The SEAI Windows and Doors Grant is part of the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland’s home energy upgrade scheme. It provides financial support to homeowners replacing old, inefficient doors with modern, energy-efficient alternatives such as composite doors.

Under the scheme, homeowners can receive:

  • €800 per external door
  • Up to 2 doors per home
  • Maximum grant of €1,600 for doors

This makes the SEAI Door Grant one of the most valuable energy upgrade incentives currently available.

When Does the External Door Grant 2026 Open?

The SEAI external door grant opens on 2 March 2026, however, homeowners who have commenced or ordered a window and or door upgrade since the government announcement on the 27th of January will be eligible to apply for grant support where they meet the scheme requirements and use registered contractors. Further details will be available through registered contractors.

This application window marks a major opportunity for homeowners looking to improve their home’s energy efficiency in 2026.

Who Is Eligible for the SEAI Composite Door Grant in Ireland?

Properties owned by the following applicant types are eligible:

  • Homeowners
  • Companies and owner management companies
  • Registered charities
  • Holiday home owners
  • Approved Housing Bodies (AHB)
  • Landlords

To qualify, your property must:

  • Be built and occupied before 2011
  • Have a valid electricity meter (MPRN)
  • Have adequate attic and wall insulation
  • Replace existing inefficient external doors with energy-efficient alternatives. This typically means your new door needs to achieve a U-value of 1.4 W/m²K or better, which helps ensure the upgrade contributes to measurable improvements in the home’s BER rating.
  • Use an SEAI-registered contractor

This ensures upgrades deliver genuine energy savings.

Why Composite Doors Qualify for the SEAI Grant

Modern composite doors are specifically designed to meet strict energy efficiency standards required under the SEAI scheme.

Apeer composite doors are energy efficient to the core. Our composite doors offer:

  • Excellent insulation performance (U-values from 0.9W/m²K)
  • Reduced heat loss
  • Lower heating bills
  • Long lifespan with minimal maintenance

This makes composite doors an ideal solution for homeowners looking to benefit from the SEAI energy-efficient doors grant in Ireland.

How to Apply for the SEAI Door Grant

If you apply for the grant yourself, the process generally follows these steps:

  • Get quotes from SEAI-registered contractors
  • Apply to SEAI for the grant offer through the official SEAI application portal
  • Wait for approval before starting work
  • Install the new door
  • Arrange a post-works BER assessment
  • Submit documentation to SEAI for payment

You can apply for this grant from Monday 2nd March 2026.

Importance Of Third-Party Testing

It is important to ensure that any energy efficient upgrades are made using products that have verified third-party testing to ensure your door passes BER Assessment.
